Why clothing matters in a photoshoot
I mainly shoot in a lifestyle style, which means you don’t need to look for special outfits for a photoshoot.
In a few years, it might feel strange to open your photo album and see yourselves wearing clothes you never wear in everyday life.
My goal is to show your uniqueness, not to hide it behind staged images.
Three tips fon what to wear for a photoshoot
When choosing clothes for a photoshoot, it is important to consider three main elements: harmony with the location, the colors of the outfits, and comfort.

1. Consistency is key
It’s important that your outfit matches both the location of the photoshoot and the overall idea of the session.
There’s no need to choose clothes that feel out of place or to wear all your “best” pieces at once.
For example, classic outfits and high heels may look unusual during a family photoshoot by the sea or in a park.
If you are still choosing a place for your photoshoot, you can also explore some photoshoot locations that I often use.
2. Colors and textures
For a photoshoot, it’s best to choose simple outfits in calm, soft tones rather than bright colors.
Ideally, these tones should also be present in the location where the session takes place.
For example, shades of blue (the sea and the sky) and beige (sand) work beautifully for a beach photoshoot.
For sessions in nature, neutral tones such as beige, brown, green, black, white, and grey usually work very well.
It’s also better to choose natural fabrics like cotton, linen, wool, or cashmere.
Clothes with large prints, visible logos, or very bright details can distract attention in the frame, so it’s best to avoid them.

3. Comfort comes first
Choose an outfit that truly feels like you. I always recommend wearing clothes that are as comfortable as possible.
You shouldn’t have to constantly adjust them or worry about how they look on you. This can distract you during the photoshoot and create unnecessary tension.
Also, pay attention to your underwear — it should not be visible or show through your clothes (straps, lace, etc.)
If you look at a photograph, close it, and remember the person and the feeling — but not what they were wearing — it means the clothes were chosen well.
Because my photographs are not about clothes. They are about you — your feelings, your connection, your emotions.
Accessories and jewelry
When choosing what to wear for a photoshoot, accessories and jewelry should be consistent with the idea of the session, suitable for the location, and in harmony with your outfit.
In general, if the jewelry doesn’t play a meaningful role in the concept, I recommend leaving it at home.
For a photoshoot, it’s best to wear only pieces that have personal meaning for you — such as a wedding ring, a cross, or other small symbolic details.

What clothes to choose for a photoshoot
Pantsuits, loose monochrome T-shirts, basic tops and tank tops, loose trousers or jeans, turtlenecks, oversized sweaters and sweatshirts, loose shirts, and casual dresses.
For example: an oversized shirt with trousers, a comfortable top with jeans, a long shirt, or a simple dress paired with a jacket.
For children, simple and comfortable clothes work best: a bodysuit, a plain T-shirt with trousers, or a long white or black T-shirt.
What to avoid when choosing what to wear for a photoshoot
It is better to avoid clothes with large prints or lettering, outfits with rhinestones, ruffles, or sequins, tight jeans and leggings, and any clothing that restricts movement.
Very short skirts may also feel uncomfortable during a photoshoot.
It is usually best to avoid the so-called family look, when all family members are dressed exactly the same — for example, white T-shirts and jeans.
One last tip
Clothing should never be something you worry about during a photoshoot.
The most important thing is to choose outfits in which you feel natural and comfortable.
When your clothes truly reflect who you are, your photographs become more authentic.
